Cursor Pricing 2026: Plans, Model Prices and Is It Free?
Cursor pricing 2026: Free, Plus $8/mo, Premium $30, Super $100, Ultra $200 and Teams from $30 a seat. Claude, GPT and Gemini cost extra at API list price.
Cursor is now sold as part of The X Subscription, one plan covering Cursor, Grok and X: Free costs $0, Plus $8 a month, Premium $30, Super $100 and Ultra $200, and Teams costs $30, $100 or $200 a seat[1][2]. Pro ($20), Pro+ ($60) and the old Teams seats continue only for existing subscribers[3].
Each plan includes a weekly pool for Cursor's own models, such as Composer 2.5 at $0.50 per million input tokens and $2.50 per million output. Claude, GPT and Gemini are no longer included: from Premium up they bill at API list price from prepaid credit, on top of the subscription[2]. Prices verified on 2026-10-19.
Cursor is an AI code editor built on VS Code. SpaceX completed its acquisition of Cursor in August 2026[4], and Cursor is now priced inside The X Subscription, which shares one usage pool across Cursor and Grok's apps[2]. When this page was first published on 11 October 2026, cursor.com/pricing still listed Hobby, Pro at $20, Pro+ at $60 and Teams at $40 a user. Those are now legacy plans, and section 6 maps each one to its replacement. For Cursor against GitHub Copilot and Windsurf (now Devin Desktop), see Cursor vs Copilot vs Windsurf pricing.
1. Cursor plans and prices
| Plan | Price | Usage | Highlights |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0[1] | Limited | Agent and Chat with limited usage |
| Plus | $8/mo[1] | Base | Agent on Cursor's own models at fixed settings, plus Grok Chat, Voice, Imagine, Build and Grok API access; no third-party models, Cloud Agents or Bugbot |
| Premium | $30/mo[1] | 4x Plus | Cloud Agents and Automations, Bugbot code review, code hosting on Origin, third-party models at API list price |
| Super | $100/mo[1] | 15x Plus | Everything in Premium, plus priority model access at peak times |
| Ultra | $200/mo[1] | 50x Plus | Everything in Super, plus earliest access to new products and models |
| Teams | $30, $100 or $200 per seat/mo[2] | Matches the seat's tier | Premium, Super or Ultra seats; central billing, privacy mode enforcement, SAML/OIDC SSO |
| Enterprise | Custom[1] | Pooled | Pooled usage across Grok and Cursor, invoicing, SCIM, granular spend controls |
Annual billing costs ten times the monthly price, so a year is two months cheaper than paying monthly. Prices exclude tax[2]:
| Plan | Monthly | 12 months, billed monthly | Annual billing | Saving |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Plus | $8 | $96 | $80 | $16 |
| Premium | $30 | $360 | $300 | $60 |
| Super | $100 | $1,200 | $1,000 | $200 |
| Ultra | $200 | $2,400 | $2,000 | $400 |
2. Is Cursor free?
Yes, with limits. The Free plan costs $0 and includes Agent and Chat with limited usage[2]. It is enough to try the editor on a small project. Regular agent work needs a paid plan, and Plus at $8 a month is the cheapest. Plus runs Cursor's own models only, at fixed settings: Fast mode off, medium effort, and Grok 4.7 at a 256k-token context window. It has no Auto, Cloud Agents, Automations, Bugbot or own API keys[2].
3. How usage is metered
- One weekly pool: each paid plan includes usage for Cursor's own models (Grok 4.7, Grok 4.6, Grok 4.5 and Composer 2.5). The pool is shared across Agent in the editor, the CLI, Cloud Agents, Grok Bot and the Grok apps, and it refreshes weekly[2].
- Prepaid credit: top-ups pay for Cursor models beyond the weekly pool, at the per-model rates below, and for third-party models from the first request. A monthly additional-usage limit caps spending regardless of the credit balance[2].
- Third-party models: Claude, GPT and Gemini are not part of the pool. On Premium, Super and Ultra they bill at the model's API list price; Free and Plus cannot use them[2].
- Surcharges: opting in to regional data residency adds 10% to eligible model prices[2].
When the weekly pool runs out you can wait for the reset, keep working on prepaid credit at the same rates, or move up a plan; Cursor says requests are never downgraded in quality or speed[2]. Cursor's own guidance is that Premium suits new Agent users, Super daily Agent users, and Ultra power users running several agents or Automations[2].
4. Model prices and workload cost
Per-million-token prices from Cursor's documentation, and the cost of an illustrative month of 10 million input and 1 million output tokens with no caching, computed from those prices[2]. For Cursor models the cost applies only to usage beyond the weekly pool. The last column adds the $0.25 per million Cursor Token Rate that Teams and Enterprise pay on third-party models:
| Model | Paid from | Input / output per 1M | 10M in + 1M out | Same on Teams |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GPT-5.6 Luna | Prepaid credit | $0.20 / $1.20 | $3.20 | $5.95 |
| Composer 2.5 | Weekly pool | $0.50 / $2.50 | $7.50 | $7.50 |
| Gemini 3.8 Flash | Prepaid credit | $0.75 / $3.75 | $11.25 | $14.00 |
| Grok 4.7 | Weekly pool | $2.00 / $6.00 | $26.00 | $26.00 |
| Claude Sonnet 5.5 | Prepaid credit | $2.00 / $10.00 | $30.00 | $32.75 |
| GPT-5.6 Terra | Prepaid credit | $2.00 / $12.00 | $32.00 | $34.75 |
| Claude Opus 5.5 | Prepaid credit | $4.00 / $20.00 | $60.00 | $62.75 |
| Claude Fable 5.1 | Prepaid credit | $10.00 / $50.00 | $150.00 | $152.75 |
Model choice moves the bill by more than an order of magnitude: the same workload costs $7.50 on Composer 2.5 and $150.00 on Claude Fable 5.1. Cached input is billed at lower cache-read rates, for example $0.20 per million on Composer 2.5 and $0.10 per million on Claude Sonnet 5.5, so long agent sessions that reuse context cost less than this table shows[2].
The change that matters most for Claude users: on the new plans, third-party usage is always paid on top of the subscription. A developer running that month on Claude Sonnet 5.5 pays $30 for Premium plus $30 in credit, $60 in total. Legacy Pro included an Other Models pool that third-party usage drew from first[3].
5. Teams and Enterprise
Teams is priced per seat. Each member gets a Premium, Super or Ultra seat at $30, $100 or $200 a month, with the same weekly usage as the matching individual plan, and one team can mix seat tiers; Plus is not available for teams[2]. Team plans add central billing and administration, a team marketplace for rules, skills and plugins, usage analytics, team-wide privacy mode and SAML/OIDC SSO.
Third-party model requests on Teams and Enterprise carry the $0.25 per million Cursor Token Rate on top of API pricing, including bring-your-own-key usage; Cursor's own models and Auto's Cost mode are exempt[2]. Enterprise adds usage pooled across Grok and Cursor, invoice billing, SCIM and granular spend controls, priced on request.
6. Pro, Pro+ and the legacy plans
Plans sold before The X Subscription keep working for existing customers at their old prices, with two monthly pools (Cursor Models and Other Models) and on-demand billing in arrears. Switching is optional, but it is permanent[3]. Cursor maps each legacy plan to its closest new tier:
| Legacy plan | Legacy price | Comparable plan now |
|---|---|---|
| Hobby | Free | Free |
| Start (India only) | ₹649/mo, tax inclusive | Plus ($8/mo) |
| Pro | $20/mo | Premium ($30/mo) |
| Pro+ | $60/mo | Super ($100/mo) |
| Ultra | $200/mo | Ultra ($200/mo) |
| Teams Standard | $40/user/mo | Teams, Premium seat ($30/user/mo) |
| Teams Premium | $120/user/mo | Teams, Super seat ($100/user/mo) |
Cursor says each new paid plan includes at least twice the Cursor-model usage of the legacy plan it replaces, but drops the included allowance for third-party models[3]. So the trade depends on which models you use. A developer who works mostly in Composer and Grok gets more usage for the money. A developer who works mostly in Claude or GPT pays the subscription plus API list price for every third-party token.
7. Which plan fits?
- Trying Cursor: Free, at $0.
- Agent work on Cursor's own models only: Plus at $8 a month, the cheapest paid tier.
- You need Claude, GPT or Gemini, Cloud Agents or Bugbot: Premium at $30 a month, plus prepaid credit for third-party tokens.
- Daily agent use: Super at $100, which Cursor recommends for daily Agent users.
- Several agents or Automations all day: Ultra at $200.
- A team: Premium seats at $30, with Super or Ultra seats only for the heaviest agent users.
- Already on Pro or Pro+: compare before switching, because the switch cannot be undone and drops the included third-party allowance.
Default to Cursor's own models for routine work and switch to frontier models for hard problems; that is the biggest lever on the bill. Add the editor to your tooling budget with the AI stack cost calculator.

Frequently asked questions
Is Cursor free?
Yes. Cursor's Free plan costs $0 and includes Agent and Chat with limited usage. The cheapest paid plan is Plus at $8 a month, which runs Agent on Cursor's own models (Grok 4.7, Grok 4.6, Grok 4.5 and Composer 2.5). Claude, GPT and Gemini need Premium at $30 a month or higher. Verified on cursor.com on 2026-10-19.
How much is Cursor Pro?
Pro, at $20 a month, is now a legacy plan: existing subscribers keep it, but new customers buy The X Subscription instead. Cursor names Premium at $30 a month as the comparable plan, with at least twice Pro's usage on Cursor's own models but no included allowance for third-party models. Pro+ at $60 maps to Super at $100.
How does Cursor model pricing work?
Every paid plan includes one weekly pool of usage for Cursor's own models, shared with Grok's apps. Beyond the pool, usage continues at each model's per-token rate, paid from prepaid credit. Third-party models such as Claude, GPT and Gemini are never in the pool: on Premium and above they bill at API list price from the first request, for example $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output for Claude Sonnet 5.5.
How much do Cursor Teams cost?
Teams is priced per seat: a Premium seat costs $30 a month, Super $100 and Ultra $200, each with the same weekly usage as the matching individual plan, and one team can mix seat tiers. Plus is not available for teams. Third-party model requests on Teams and Enterprise add a Cursor Token Rate of $0.25 per million tokens. Enterprise is priced on request.
Can I use Claude in Cursor on the Plus plan?
No. Plus covers Cursor's own models only, at fixed settings. Claude, GPT, Gemini and your own API keys need Premium or higher, where third-party usage is billed at API list price from prepaid credit on top of the subscription.
