Lindy vs Relay 2026: Relay Shut Down, Lindy's New Pricing

Relay.app shut down in September 2026. Lindy bills every seat from $29.99 a month for 3,000 pooled credits, up to 35,000 for $199.99. Where Relay users go.

TL;DR

Relay.app no longer exists. It stopped new signups on July 16, 2026, and deleted free accounts after August 15 and paid accounts after September 14, 2026[2][3]. Anyone still comparing the two is choosing between Lindy and a replacement for Relay, not between Lindy and Relay.

Lindy now sells one Team plan on a credit meter: every active user is billed, from $29.99 a month for 3,000 credits, with larger per-seat allowances up to 35,000 credits for $199.99, the best rate at $5.71 per 1,000[1]. Top-ups cost $10 per 1,000 credits, and the Free plan is $50 of credits for 7 days. For a solo founder the entry price is $29.99; for a team, every seat is billed.

Lindy's pricing verified as of 2026-10-19 and Relay.app's shutdown notice as of 2026-09-28, cited below.

This page first compared Lindy's flat agent tiers against Relay.app's free, step-metered plans. Both halves of that comparison have since changed: Relay shut down, and Lindy moved from flat tiers to credits billed per seat. What follows covers what happened to Relay, what Lindy costs now, and where Relay's kind of fixed-step work belongs.

1. Relay.app shut down: the timeline

Relay announced the wind-down in July 2026 and ran it in two stages[2]:

  • July 16, 2026. New signups and free-to-paid upgrades were turned off. Paid subscriptions were cancelled effective that day, with prorated refunds for annual customers.
  • August 15, 2026. Free accounts and all their data were permanently deleted.
  • September 14, 2026. Paid accounts and all their data were permanently deleted. Until then, paying workspaces ran free, with an extra 25,000 steps and 10,000 AI credits a month for the transition.

Before deletion, Relay let customers export workflows, sequences, and MCP servers as JSON plus their AI prompts, run history, and tables as CSV. The export is a rebuild kit, not an import format: the JSON describes a Relay workflow for a person to rebuild elsewhere. Today the homepage states that all accounts, workflows, and run history have been permanently deleted[3], so a workspace that was not exported by September 14 is gone.

2. Lindy pricing now: one Team plan, credits per seat

Lindy no longer sells named tiers. Its Team plan bills every active user in the workspace, from $29.99 a month for 3,000 credits, and each seat can carry a larger monthly allowance; every seat's credits go into one shared pool that anyone in the workspace can draw on[1]. Lindy is also testing its entry price: on 2026-10-19 some visitors to the pricing page saw the smallest seat as 5,000 credits for $49.99, without the 3,000- and 4,000-credit sizes[1]. The allowances it lists per seat, with the rate per 1,000 credits calculated from them:

Monthly credits per seatPrice per seatCost per 1,000 credits
3,000$29.99[1]$10.00
4,000 to 8,000$39.99 to $79.99[1]$10.00
15,000$99.99[1]$6.67
20,000$149.99[1]$7.50
35,000$199.99[1]$5.71
45,000$299.99[1]$6.67
Top-up$10 per 1,000 credits[1]$10.00

Two things stand out. The rate is not monotonic: 20,000 and 45,000 credits cost more per credit than 15,000 and 35,000, so 35,000 for $199.99 is the cheapest per credit. And Lindy's own team bundles are multiples of that seat: 70,000 credits for $399.98 is two 35,000 seats. Enterprise adds HIPAA with a signed BAA, SSO and SCIM, audit logs and bonus credits through sales.

The Free plan gives $50 in credits that last 7 days, with no card required[1]. When the pool runs low, Lindy pauses and tells you rather than billing overage; monthly credits do not roll over, while top-up credits stay until used.

3. What a credit buys, and the cost per 1,000

Lindy publishes typical credit costs by kind of work[1]: everyday asks such as answers, summaries, lookups, and drafted replies use 2-250 credits; deep work such as a competitor report or a day's support triage uses 250-1,000; big builds such as dashboards, decks, or internal tools use 1,000-2,500.

Dividing each seat's price by its allowance gives the effective rate and how much work it covers, calculated from the published figures:

SeatCost per 1,000 creditsDeep-work tasks per seat per month (250-1,000 credits each)Big builds per seat per month (1,000-2,500 credits each)
3,000 credits, $29.99$10.003 to 121 to 3
15,000 credits, $99.99$6.6715 to 606 to 15
35,000 credits, $199.99$5.7135 to 14014 to 35

The $29.99 seat is sized for everyday asks, not for a steady stream of deep work: a solo founder who hands Lindy two research reports a week will spend most of it on them. The 15,000-credit seat costs 3.3x as much for 5x the credits, which cuts the unit rate by a third. Because the pool is shared, one heavy user can draw on a teammate's unused credits, but every person who uses Lindy still needs a paid seat. 4. What changed from Lindy's old tiers

When this comparison was first published in June 2026, Lindy sold three named flat monthly tiers: Plus at $49.99, Pro at $99.99 with 3x Plus's usage, and Max at $199.99 with 7x, with no published usage unit. By September it had made those three tiers per-seat plans with 3,000, 15,000 and 35,000 credits; it now sells the same price points as credit allowances on one Team plan, alongside intermediate sizes and top-ups[1]. Against the June tiers, three things changed:

  • The entry price fell. The smallest seat costs $29.99, against $49.99 for June's Plus, so for one person Lindy is 40% cheaper to start. Visitors in Lindy's current pricing test see $49.99 for 5,000 credits as the smallest seat instead.
  • Pricing is per seat. A team of five on the smallest seat pays $149.95 a month, not one flat fee. Teams that shared one workspace at a flat price now pay per user.
  • Usage is published in credits. The allowance is now a number you can budget against rather than a relative size, and running out pauses work unless you buy a $10 top-up.

5. Moving off Relay: where step-metered work goes

Relay's appeal was a free tier and a per-step meter that did not charge for triggers, data transformations, or branch and loop checks. That is fixed-step workflow automation, and Lindy is not the natural home for it: Lindy bills agent work in credits per seat, so a high-volume, low-judgment flow costs more there than on a per-run tool. The closest replacements are the per-task and per-execution platforms:

  • Zapier or Make for the widest app library with a free tier and per-task or per-credit metering. The Zapier vs Make vs n8n pricing breakdown prices each meter.
  • n8n when volume is high enough that self-hosting or per-execution billing beats per-step billing.
  • Gumloop for AI-heavy flows priced on credits; see Gumloop vs n8n.

Whichever you pick, rebuild from the exported JSON and prompts one workflow at a time, highest-volume first, and measure each rebuilt flow under the new meter before moving the rest. The best workflow automation tools for solopreneurs guide compares the field by volume and technical comfort.

6. Which to pick now

  • Pick Lindy's $29.99 seat if you are one person who wants an agent for everyday asks inside Slack, email, and meetings, and a few deep-work jobs a month. It is the cheapest Lindy has been.
  • Pick the 15,000-credit seat if deep work is routine: at $6.67 per 1,000 credits it is a third cheaper per unit than the $29.99 seat, and covers 15 to 60 deep-work tasks a month. Heavier users get the lowest rate at 35,000 credits for $199.99.
  • Pick a per-run automation tool if you were a Relay user running fixed, repeatable flows. Per-seat agent credits are the wrong meter for high-volume, rule-based work.
  • Either way, re-verify the pricing page before committing, and use the Free plan's $50 of credits to measure how many credits your real tasks consume before choosing a seat size.

Frequently asked questions

Is Relay.app still available in 2026?

No. Relay.app turned off new signups and upgrades on July 16, 2026, deleted free accounts after August 15, 2026, and deleted paid accounts after September 14, 2026. Its homepage now carries only a shutdown notice stating that all accounts, workflows, and run history have been permanently deleted. There is no Relay plan to compare against Lindy anymore; the practical question is where Relay's workload should move.

What does Lindy cost per month now?

Lindy sells one Team plan on credits, verified against its pricing page on 2026-10-19: every active user is billed, from $29.99 a month for 3,000 credits each, with larger allowances per seat such as 15,000 credits for $99.99 and 35,000 for $199.99. Every seat's credits go into one pool the whole workspace draws from, and top-ups cost $10 per 1,000 credits. The Free plan gives $50 in credits for 7 days with no card; Enterprise is priced through sales.

What happens when Lindy runs out of credits?

When the pool runs low, Lindy pauses and tells you; it does not bill overage on its own. You can buy top-up credits at $10 per 1,000, which stay until you use them, while monthly credits refresh each billing cycle and do not roll over. Admins can set credit allocations per seat.
